Chief of the Navy Supply Corps Meets with DDM Leaders

NPS alumnus Rear Adm. Peter Stamatopoulos, Chief of the Navy Supply Corps and commander of Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), recently visited NPS to discuss educational and research support to the Navy’s logistics community, as well as to engage with Supply Corps students currently attending the school.

During his time in Monterey, Stamatopoulos met with NPS and Department of Defense Management (DDM) leaders.

“His visit allowed us to continue to more tightly align our programs and research to Naval operational needs,” said Raymond Jones, chair of DDM. “During his visit, DDM showed how we are integrating the coursework of our students into real-world challenges in the Navy and how this has relevant impact on how graduates from our program are more capable and ready for the challenges at sea.”

Stamatopoulos also attended student capstone briefs in the Logistics Strategy course, held a professional development session with all Supply Corps officers at NPS, and discussed additive manufacturing with multiple faculty members.

“The vast majority of Navy Supply Corps officers earn their advanced degrees here at NPS,” said Jones. “Admiral Stamatopoulos was introduced to the work NPS and DDM are doing with regard to innovation and transitioning student ideas into viable operational capability.”
