Vice Provost, Warfare Studies
Randy Pugh is the Naval Postgraduate School’s Vice Provost for Warfare Studies and Director of NPS’ Naval Warfare Studies Institute. He served 34 years as a U.S. Marine, first as an enlisted Combat Engineer and then as a Signals Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and MAGTF Intelligence Officer.
During his career, he served at First, Second, and Third Radio Battalions, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, I and II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Systems Command, Headquarters Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command Europe. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded Second Radio Battalion and, as a Colonel, he commanded Marine Corps Intelligence Schools.
He served in combat in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Southern Philippines and holds degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Naval War College.
